Jump Higher Tips
Contrary to popular belief, learning how to jump higher doesn’t boil down to natural talent or height.
This can be a little hard to believe, especially when you’re watching from the sidelines all of the six-foot basketball players score point after point, or staring in wonder as yet another competitor soars over the six-foot high jump bar easy-peasy.
However, these are only thoughts that are preventing you from achieving the same results yourself – after all, learning how to jump higher isn’t a privilege that only a few get to enjoy.
It’s a right!
If you’re ready to start jumping higher as easily as the basketball professionals, then break out workout clothes, slap on some sneakers and get ready to sweat – these workouts are all designed to improve your strength, increase your stamina and make you jump higher!

• Build a speed ladder. A speed ladder isn’t any kind of complicated sports gear that you’ll find at your local sporting goods store; instead, a speed ladder can be built out of ropes and cones that are arranged in a special obstacle course. Put these obstacles close together, then quickly run and jump through them as quickly as you can.
For a more advanced speed ladder, find some old tires and arrange them on the ground as closely as possible. Then jump from tire to tire as quick as you can. Be sure to time yourself so that you know when you’re getting faster – it’s a great way to not only learn how to jump higher and build those crucial leg muscles, but it will increase your speed as well!
• Arrange another kind of obstacle course; this time, arrange a bunch of platforms together of varying heights. They can be rocks, steps, stairs – anything, as long as the heights vary and they can hold your weight without difficulty. The idea behind this course is the same as the first one: bound from platform to platform as quickly as possible in order to increase your leg strength and jumping abilities. Again, time yourself so that you know when you’re improving!
• Lose any extra weight that you might be carrying around your midsection. It’s impossible to jump higher if you’re carrying too much weight for your body, so aim to have no more than 10% body fat. Follow a smart diet (no master cleanses allowed!) that incorporates plenty of lean meats, fruits and veggies, and get plenty of exercise each and every day. Soon, you’ll be fit and trim, which will definitely help you to catch more air with each successive jump!
• Increase your endurance by jogging three miles three times a week. Although this may seem like it has nothing to do with the ability to jump higher, it’s important to conserve your strength on the basketball court so you have enough energy left over to make that slam dunk – and proper endurance will help you to do just that!
